Launch of Companions of the Order of Malta 22 Apr 2008 the British Association is launching a new activity, for its supporters: the Companions. The Companions of the Order of Malta is open to all those who wish to support the Order of Malta and its work. Since the 11th century, the Order of Malta has helped the sick, the needy and refugees regardless of religion, race or creed. The Order’s sovereign status puts it in a privileged position to carry out humanitarian work. With permanent observer status at the UN and other international organisations and diplomatic relations with 100 countries, it is able to respond immediately to world catastrophes.
