The floods of 2002 devastated the homes of many people in central Europe. Once the water subsided, and most possessions had been washed away, the houses still remained uninhabitable until properly dried out with specialist machinery.

The FAS supplied house-drying machines to a rural area of the Czech Republic, enabling many families to start the process of making their houses habitable again and to pick up the strands of their lives. These machines cost about £700 each, they take a week to dry a house and can then be moved to a new location.
