Providing an international, co-ordinated
response to suffering across the world

The Foreign Aid Service of the Order of Malta provides an international response to disaster and emergency situations as well as long-term and sustainable work to support improvements to the lives of desperately poor people, such as healthcare centre or income-generation activities.

Operating within the framework of the Knights of Malta - the oldest order of chivalry in the world - the Order's Foreign Aid Service provides an international, co-ordinated response to suffering in the world, staffed mainly by the volunteers it is low-cost and effective.

For example, just £160 per month can support an old people's home in Serbia, helping vulnerable people who have no one else to turn to. In Africa, vaccinations against tuberculosis or measles cost about £2.00 per child, and basic healthcare packages - such as the ones we are distributing to refugees on the borders of Iraq, cost of about 30p per person per day.

The Order of Malta responds to natural or civil disasters with emergency relief teams, and works to provide sustainable improvements in desperately poor areas in an internationally co-ordinated and effective way. To continue this vital work we need your help, as much of the funding is done through donations, and we hope that you may feel able to support some of these excellent initiatives.
